In their diversity and color palette, they slightly remind one of tropical birds, though they live all around us. From spring to midsummer, in the Ribals`ky Quarry, we have found 29 species of butterflies (Rhopalocera) so far:
Pieridae family – 7 species.
Lycaenidae family – 7 species.
Hesperiidae family – 2 species.
Papilionidae family – 2 species.
Satyrinae family – 4 species.
Nymphalidae family – 7 species.

Could the Quarry be a breeding site for these species? It`s hard to say. However, according to our observations, the food plants for the caterpillars of all these species do grow in the Quarry.
